I like the fact that the Youws Counselors are only a few years older and I feel more connected to them. I feel more intimidated by the normal counselors since they are much older and their knowledge seems to be more outdated.

I really want to get into the computer science major and become a software engineer, but my parents can't help me because they don't know anything about coding. I like Youws because they have counselors in top CS programs, and they can tutor me in classes like AP CS.

We didn’t expect that it’s so much harder to get into UCs now compared to when I went to Cal, especially for computer science applicants.

Programming skill is increasing more important for non-technical employees like me. But it's hard to follow many of the online courses because they are not tailored to my needs. And private tutoring is expensive. Youws' one-on-one Python class is perfect because it can be adjusted to my pace and is cost effective.

My college counselor said I’m a good fit for Emory University. I got rejected. Turns out she told several of my friends the same thing and they all got rejected. Looking back at it now, Emory University was definitely not my fit.

I only saw my counselor as a gateway to college so I didn’t want to tell them about things like classes that I was doing poorly in, etc.
